To Know To Do Good

To him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. James 4:17
I recently read where a rural New York town clerk has resigned her post rather than grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
What is her reason?
She said she would be compromising her moral conscience by participating in licensing same-sex couples and that she had to choose between her job and God.
The resignation is effective July 21st, three days before legal gay marriage takes effect in New York.
In her resignation letter she wrote, “The Bible clearly teaches that God created marriage between male and female as a divine gift that preserves families and cultures. Since I love and follow Him, I cannot put my signature on something that is against God.”
Exactly what does the Bible say about marriage?
First, Gen 2:24 – A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
That’s repeated in Matt 19:5, Mark 10:8, and Eph 5:31.
The Bible says nothing about the marriage of a man to a man or a woman to a woman.
Is this to say that homosexuality did not exist back then?
Hardly; since the Bible did address this issue in Lev 18 and 20 along with Rom 1.
But every time I write about this sin I am rebuked by someone that believes in that homosexuality is not a sin but a born lifestyle that cannot be changed.
The beginning scripture said to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. James 4:17
How is it that some, including those that may say they are Christians, can ignore what God’s word says?
Rom 1:28 says they did not like to retain God in their knowledge.
It is written that Jesus is “The stone which the builders rejected [that] has become the chief cornerstone,” and “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.” They stumble, being disobedient to the word, to which they also were appointed. 1 Peter 2:7-8
They stumble over Jesus; He trips up their sinful ways.
This is why so many forsake what God has said and approves of what mankind has to say.
They not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. Rom 1:32
Read it for yourself in Romans 1.
