It was not a surprise that we wanted!
When we arrived home from shopping late Friday night, it was 86 degrees in the house; the air-conditioning was out.
We unloaded all the groceries and I checked out the outside unit.
Neither the fan nor compressor would come on.
I checked breakers; all were on!
My thoughts turned to how much it will cost to repair it and how long would it take.
Air-conditioning repair is always an unexpected expense.
But God always has a way of teaching a lesson.
He says in His word let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Phil 2:3-4
While I’m wallowing in my thermal troubles, I get word on Facebook that a dear caching friend is fading away.
Her husband, Ted, and family are by her side and are waiting for that final moment.
I forgot my problems and begin to pray for Ted.
Despite any difficulties or financial strain, my wife and children are in good health.
I cannot imagine what my friend is going through.
No matter how far on the bottom of the heap you may feel, there is always someone a little deeper on the bottom than you.
I recall Pat’s story of feeling sorry for herself and one of her daughters over an operation.
While she was having her very own little pity party in the hospital hallway, a young girl in a wheelchair motioned her over and said, “Guess what? I get my legs today!”
Pat looked down to see that the teenager had no legs.
She quickly began to count her blessings.
There were times when the great King David felt alone, persecuted, troubled, and even depressed.
This is what he said; My eyes are ever toward the LORD, for He shall pluck my feet out of the net. Ps 25:15
What a beautiful way to express it.
When you feel trapped, God will pluck you out of the net!
