My sister – my friend

The apostle Paul told the young pastor, Timothy, do not rebuke an older man, but exhort him as a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, with all purity. 1 Tim 5:1-2
As an only child I’ve always suffered with the brotherly love idea since I do not know the love of a brother.
The same could be said for a sister except I had help with that.
Linda’s little sister is Joann and she is 8 years younger than Linda, which puts her 11 years younger than me.
So when I show up on Linda’s doorstep at the age of 18, Joann was only 7.
There was one year when Linda and her older brother, Johnny, decided to go Christmas shopping and they did not want to take Joann.
So I made a date and took her to Dairy Queen where we had nacho’s, burgers, and ice cream.
Then when Christmas morning arrived, Joann called me to come down to her house and play her new games with her.
We had the best time playing Clue and Operation.
With her help I have learned to treat the younger women as sisters and some much younger ones as daughters!
I am blessed to have her as part of my family and part of my life; and I just wanted to take the time to wish my sister – my friend, Joann, a Happy Birthday today!

  1. Good stories & bad ones they are in all families, I have two younger & two older brothers. BUT…God is good! and will use all events for our good if we’ll let Him. That’s my choise.

  3. I really liked your honoring Joann as a sister! It’s such a blessing to be a true member of your spouse’s family. I was privileged to have experienced it with my husband’s family. I’ve been that sister to my sister-in-law for 44 years (so far). I hope to be a sister until Jesus comes to get us!
