The next “begat” woman is from Jericho; Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Matt 1:5
Then Joshua secretly sent out two spies from the Israelite camp at Acacia. He instructed them, “Spy out the land on the other side of the Jordan River, especially around Jericho.” So the two men set out and came to the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there that night.
Josh 2:1 NLT
Rahab hid the spies and kept them safe.
She let them escape through her window with the promise that when Israel attacked Jericho, her family would be spared.
When that day came to attack, Joshua commanded the people, “Shout! For the LORD has given you the city! The city and everything in it must be completely destroyed as an offering to the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute and the others in her house will be spared, for she protected our spies. Josh 6:16-17 NLT
They completely destroyed everything in it — men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep, donkeys — everything.
Then Joshua said to the two spies, “Keep your promise. Go to the prostitute’s house and bring her out, along with all her family.” Josh 6:21-22 NLT
Rahab named in the genealogy of Jesus reminds us of the Promise of Salvation.
That promise is for all that will look to God for safety.
No matter what you have done God will forgive you if you ask Him; for “Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Rom 10:13 NLT
I read where someone commented that no self-respecting Hebrew would marry an outsider and prostitute like Rahab.
Remember the story of Judah and Tamar; what’s self-respecting about that?
How about the Israelites at the base of Mt. Horeb while Moses is on the mountain receiving the law?
Hebrews are not any different than the rest of us; sinners in need of a Savior.
It is written by faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace. Heb 11:31
And likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? James 2:25
Rahab received her salvation by faith in God!
There is nothing in exastence that our God did not create. There is no human being that Christ did not die for. Anyone that willingly accepts Christ He accepts. Skin color, nationality, He loves us all.

I am really enjoying these women of promise blogs… It is amazing how God has used the lives of people to demostrate His Promise, among many other mind blowing revelations! It also blows my mind how He gave us free will and lets us abide in it while still able to orchestrate such beautiful demonstrations of His Love and fulfillment of His Will. He truly is an AWESOME GOD!
