So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. Ezek 22:30
Last time I looked at breaking down the middle wall of separation (Eph 2:14).
While I believe in tearing down the wall that separates us from one another, especially His church, I am also a believer in building a wall that will separate God’s people from one thing in particular – sin!
As the “wall of separation of church and state” continues to be built, another wall is torn down; one that separates His people from sin.
It seems we have things backwards – separate God from our lives and replacing His absence with unrighteousness.
How many things does the Bible speak against that have become acceptable today under the guise of tolerance, non-judgment, non-discriminatory, and equality?
God is looking for someone to follow Him in truth and righteousness; to stand in the gap before Him and the land!
There is another wall mentioned in Amos 7:7, behold, the Lord stood on a wall made with a plumb line, with a plumb line in His hand.
A wall can look level and straight up-and-down to the eye but even the slightest leaning wall cannot lie against a plumb line.
I can think I’m doing right and in the will of God but when I compare myself to God’s plumb line (the Lord Jesus) then I see just how off kilter I am.
That’s when I need someone standing in the gap for me and bringing me back to the wall that will separate me from iniquity.
In our first scripture, God said He did not find someone that would stand in the gap!
How about you? Will you stand in the gap?
Many years passed as a beliver in Christ there I (like so many others) believed that God needs no one! Here in Ezek. God is searching for one person willing to do His will. Even today our Creator searches amoungest His children for someone to listen & respond to His heart. His voice is so soft & gentle many times unheard. God forgive me. Like a small child, I’ve been sat down, quieted, restricked. Now when the slightest need is mentioned I go into prayer. I’m thinking this is what God wanted for me all along.
