I was running a Bible reference on Noah the other day and happened upon this passage.
Then this message came to me from the LORD: “Son of man, suppose the people of a country were to sin against me, and I lifted my fist to crush them, cutting off their food supply and sending a famine to destroy both people and animals alike. Even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were there, their righteousness would save no one but themselves, declares the Sovereign LORD.” Ezek 14:12-14 NLT
I was caught by the mention of these three men together and what God had to say about them.
Since these three would survive such a disaster, it’s worth a look at each to find out why; starting with Noah.
Most remember his story of building the ark, a huge ship, and loading it with 2 of every kind of animal.
Noah lived in a day of extreme wickedness, sinfulness, and evil. Yet it is written of him, Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. Gen 6:8
This grace is the same grace which is extended to us; for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. Eph 2:8
This grace leads to salvation and salvation, and salvation leads to perfection through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Therefore, Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. Gen 6:9
That’s not all because Noah was a man of faith and by faith Noah , being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. Heb 11:7
And another important scripture says Noah did; according to all that God commanded him, so he did. Gen 6:22
So in a time of calamity Noah would be saved (and he was) because of his faith, righteousness, and obedience; all wrapped up by God’s grace.
Why is Noah mentioned along with Daniel and Job in Ezekiel 14:14?
He accepted God’s grace and salvation for his life.
He was a just man.
He was perfect in his generation.
He walked with God.
He did what God told him to do.
Yes. And they are mentioned together because they are alive in the same place. Our God is the only God of the living! Keep preaching it brother.
