I am the one who searches out the thoughts and intentions of every person. Rev 2:23
Our insurance company has denied our claim – totally!
Last week our church was vandalized. All 4 outside air-conditioner units were tampered with; 3 of them a total loss.
What thieves are after is the copper tubing inside the units, this I will admit.
But the perpetrators did not take anything.
Not a thing!
So technically it was not a theft, it was vandalism.
We were not covered for theft. I was told years ago that our church was too isolated to be covered, which after several break-ins prompted me to find other means of protecting everything.
Since that system of protection has been in place we have not had any more break-ins.
But the outside stuff was left vulnerable.
The insurance adjuster called me yesterday morning and said the company was denying any compensation for my claim.
Are you ready for this?
Because we are not covered for theft to which I replied that they didn’t steal anything; all the components were still on the church property lying next to where the units had been. So it was a true case of vandalism.
I was then told that the company lawyers have a case in which this same thing had happened and the court decided that it was the intent of the perpetrators to steal the copper inside the units not to vandalize them only; thus it falls back under theft.
I am distancing myself from this insurance company. I think when you can tell the “intent” of a person that you are playing God.
Can anyone know beyond any reasonable doubt that they were trying to steal or just vandalize?
Our church has endured someone carving nasty messages on our front door, the rearranging of the letters and words on the sign and several years ago someone broke all the windows on the highway side of our church; so our church has been the target of vandalism.
But was their intent simply to break the windows or was their intent to break the windows and gain access inside the church to steal?
Last Sunday there were many people in our service. Was their intent to actually come and worship God; perhaps their intent was to just kill and hour or two and make a impression on others.
Maybe their intent was to scope out the inside of the church in order to steal from us.
Next time someone strikes a match I am not sure if their intent is to commit arson or light the cigarette that’s in their hand.
Next time someone comes forward in church, I can’t be sure they really want to accept Jesus as Savior or if their intent is to make a good show of turning their life around.
We have to be careful with what we think someone is intending to do and take account of what they have actually done.
None of us have the power to proclaim what someone intends to do.
I know the Bible says their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible. Eph 5:13-14
It is written the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts (1 Chron 28:9) and that the word of God is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Heb 4:12
I’m beginning to wonder if the insurance company has intentions to actually look out for my best interests.
I know God does!
I’m not one that actively appeals for help in such a way but if you’d like to help our church get some new a/c units, please comment or contact me and I will give you an address or I will correspond with you more about it.
hmmm, sounds like a letter to the editor will be upcoming.

I wonder how many people knew at the time what would follow when, our then president , Clinton said, I did not have sex with that woman. Apparently the insurance company believes they can play the same card. Wonder if they think we’re all fools? When that Light shines on them what protection will their saved money offer?
