The Control of Anger

People ruin their lives by their own foolishness and then are angry at the Lord. Prov 19:3
Last night Linda read me a really ignorant Facebook status comparing religion to something that utterly made no sense.
The person that made the comparison is angry at God about the things that have happened in their life.
I not going to say that everything that has happened to this person is their own fault; sometimes bad things happen to us through the actions of someone else.
However, being angry at God is this person’s fault.
Anger is something each of us can control within ourselves.
People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness. Prov 14:29
Probably each of us could be angry and bitter about something that has happened to us; something we each think is unfair.
I could be angry and Linda could be angry for things of the past that happened to each of us.
But why live in the past and fester over something we can no longer control or prevent.
In fact, if you are angry at something in the past, it is controlling you and you have given spiritual wickedness a place to hold onto your life.
Anger gives a foothold to the devil. Eph 4:27
“Don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, Eph 4:26
Instead get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Eph 4:31-32
If anyone truly has a right to be angry it is God.
We have slandered His name, blamed Him, cursed Him, and rejected the gift of salvation through His Son.
Still He loves and pleads with us to seek Him out.
Don’t let anger control you and don’t blame God for what sin has done in your life.
Seek out God in forgiveness and healing. Let His love control your life instead of your own hatefulness.
