Dear friend, don’t let this bad example influence you. Follow only what is good. Remember that those who do good prove that they are God’s children, and those who do evil prove that they do not know God. 3 John 11
I was thinking of how many things encourage us to sin. Just about every TV show, book and magazine pushes us farther from God and nearer to a life of destruction.
Stand in line at the check-out and “check out” the article titles on the magazines.
Our eyes are filled with suggestive words and lustful pictures.
Turn on the TV and there are couples engaged in all kinds of lewd scenes.
Satellite TV and the internet allow anyone to feed their lusts 24/7.
For many men this is a ticking time bomb that will eventually lead them into a sinful action against someone else. Many crimes against women are caused by a man that is influenced by pornography.
Many women get into a situation they cannot escape from by imitating the suggestive moves, dress, and conversation of magazines and actors.
The world has made it too easy to sin, everyday it is served to a hungry people desiring fulfillment but never finding it.
I remember being told that homosexual’s aren’t happy; alcoholics aren’t happy; drug addicts aren’t happy. They are all searching for something to give their life meaning.
There are many Christians that aren’t happy too. It’s because they are never able to commit themselves to a the service of the Lord or a fellowship of believers like they should.
Why?
For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. 1 John 2:16
It is easy to imitate evil when this is what we are bombarded with every moment of every day.
These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. 1 John 2:16-17
When we sin it is not of God.
When we sin we are not seeing God.
The hardest but most fulfilling act you will ever do is to look at Jesus and imitate Him.
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. Eph 5:1-2
There is no place in life where we don’t want it to be easier. We’ve got it made in God. He said He’d do the work in us. All He wants from us is to believe in the Son. It’s not always easy to turn from what stimulates our senses. If we’ll look & hear through God’s eyes & ears we can acknowledge things. God sees everything, hears every thing, but doesn’t partake of everything. When we do it hurts Him. HE IS RIGHT THERE WITH US! I don’t want to hurt Him more than what He has already for me. May God grant us the grace to walk through this world with love & power.
