Wednesday night finished up a study of Galatians.
The book is about how the church(es) had heard the true Gospel message from Paul and believed it.
Then, as soon as he left, some others came in, added to and changed the message.
Paul was amazed at how quickly the Galatian believers had strayed to another gospel, which was not another but was a lie!
This same mistake is being made today.
The TV, books, magazines, and the Internet has opened up a whole new library of information on the subject of religion and God.
Much of this is good and true information; much of it is not, it is a lie and deception.
You can find many different “gospels” on the Internet, seemingly written by familiar names like Mary Magdalene, Thomas, Nicodemus, Judas, and Philip.
On the surface these writings can seem genuine and sincere, even somewhat spiritual; but many have heretical underlying messages.
Add to that many modern books and writings that suggest special revelation or enlightenment that’s outside the teaching of the Bible and you have a dangling carrot!
It’s bait for the novice Christian or non-Christian to reach out and take; swallowing it hook, line, and sinker.
Jesus said, “After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.” John 10:4-5
Here is the problem – many have never heard the “voice” of the Lord!
They don’t know what He sounds like and so they will follow a stranger (and strange teachings).
How do you hear the voice of the Lord?
Read His word! Read it over and over. Pray and meditate on it. Allow the Holy Spirit to minister to your through it.
Once you get God’s word into your heart and mind, you will recognize what is strange!
