Each of us has done the same thing while at the doctor or dentist office. I do it when I’m getting the oil changed or the tires rotated.
What is it?
Wait!
There’s nothing else to do but then most of us have done the same thing while waiting and that’s reach over to a corner table and pick up a magazine.
I have read marvelous, adventurous stories of distant lands through a National Geographic at the optometrist office.
I have longed for the peace and serenity in the photographs of one of those vacation destination magazines.
My mouth has watered and my thoughts told me, “You could do that” as I read about a recipe in Cuisine.
Or I have been so caught up in reading a story in Reader’s Digest that I was sorely disappointed when my name was called and I had to leave it unfinished.
But that’s what most of do when we wait.
How about this, wait on the LORD; be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the LORD! Ps 27:14
What do you do now?
It seems that most Christians are content with sitting with folded hands on their pew-padding and just wait.
No wonder so many believe that Christianity is dull and boring. I’d be just as bored waiting at the doctor’s office but at least there I find something to occupy the time.
Since we are waiting on the Lord, let’s occupy our time with reading the Bible and talking to others about the Lord.
Perhaps He will call our name when we are in the middle of one of those great stories.
I wait for the LORD, my soul waits and in His word I do hope. Ps 130:5
The Waiting Room is very good. How many times have I waited on a doctor. I would read articles and when I left I would tell someone about the new recipe I found in the thirty year old magazine. I could just as easily tell someone about what I’ve read about GOD. Glad you printed your story! Thanks—- ALSO– (thats a woman’s battlecry!-She isn’t through yet!) I would like info on schedule of THE FORD SISTERS,as well as, a young girl I heard sing in Hemphill @ the Oliphant House. Would you be able to give me their addresses etc –thank you again…
