I like a logic puzzle. It’s a puzzle where you are given just enough information to arrive at a correct answer but you must use logic and deduction.
There was one on Fb the other evening but I was too tired to attempt it until the next morning. It was said that Einstein made this one up.
There is a row of five different color houses. Each house is occupied by a man of different nationality. Each man has a different pet, prefers a different drink, and smokes different brand of cigarettes.
The Englishman lives in the Red house.
The Swede keeps dogs as pets.
The Dane drinks tea.
The Green house is next to the White house, on the left.
The owner of the Green house drinks coffee.
The person who smokes Pall Mall rears birds.
The owner of the Yellow house smokes Dunhill.
The man living in the center house drinks milk.
The Norwegian lives in the first house.
The man who smokes Blends lives next to the one who keeps cats.
The man who keeps horses lives next to the man who smokes Dunhill.
The man who smokes Blue Master drinks rootbeer.
The German smokes Prince.
The Norwegian lives next to the Blue house.
The man who smokes Blends has a neighbor who drinks water.
Who has fish at home?
It then said that only about 2% of the people can arrive at the correct answer.
Logic is the study of the principles of reasoning, especially of the structure of propositions as distinguished from their content and of method and validity in deductive reasoning.
The scripture says “Come now, and let us reason together.” Says the Lord, Isa 1:18
But sometimes when we try to logically reason with God we still lack understanding. For instance, Jesus said to them, “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.” And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have taken no bread.” Matt 16:6-7
The disciples logically deduced the wrong reason.
It is hard to use logic with God because He is not bound by the same physical laws that we are.
This is the reason the apostle says we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Cor 5:7
Hebrews 11 teaches us that it is by faith that we live to please God.
Heb 11:4 –By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain…
Heb 11:11 – By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed…
Heb 11:17 – By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac…
Heb 11:23 – By faith Moses…
Notice that each acted by faith, not by logic.
God’s reasoning with us will always be by faith!
The answer is always Jesus. I don’t care what the question is!
