The strength to not fall away

First, let me assure you that I am not perfected but I press on. Let me also assure you that I do not go looking for ways to sin against God but feel I have more strength through Christ to avoid it. We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them. 1 John 5:18
So I should be shocked when I see someone that wants to be known as a Christian committing a blatant sin against what God has written in His word. My theory is I am desensitized to it.

Facebook has given a big glimpse into personal lives of people through status updates and photo’s.
The sin committed is not hidden but paraded on the social website.
Why?
I believe it is part of the fulfillment of scripture that speaks of a falling away; let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, 2 Thess 2:3

Many that I know that claim a relationship with Christ are now documenting their own life, which appears to be a falling away.
I don’t think that God and sin can coexist in the same place. The closer one gets to God the farther from sin one would get.
You who were once far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions. Yet now he has reconciled you to himself through the death of Christ in his physical body. As a result, he has brought you into his own presence, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. Col 1:21-22

Likewise, the closer to habitually sinning one gets the farther from a holy relationship with God one would be.
If you walk away from God, there is no place to go but toward sin.
Anyone who wanders away from this teaching has no relationship with God. 2 John 9

Be careful then, dear brothers and sisters. Make sure that your own hearts are not evil and unbelieving, turning you away from the living God. You must warn each other every day, while it is still “today,” so that none of you will be deceived by sin and hardened against God. Heb 3:12-13

For the Christian on social media, like Facebook and Twitter, it should not be a place to reveal sin but to lift up the name of Jesus; a place to encourage and pray.
Granted, for many it is and I am pleased with that.
But we are not like those who turn away from God to their own destruction. We are the faithful ones, whose souls will be saved. Heb 10:39

  1. You’re right about imperfection. King David asked forgiveness for secret faults. Not being perfect means we will at times preform an imperfect act. I thank God that as time goes by I gain understanding & am less critical of self & others. O how we need others to show forth mercy. Father God did tell us in His Word what the last days would be like. It hurts my heart to see folks falling away. BUT my hope is in tact. Jesus is real and a friend of mine.
