In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!” Luke 1:26-28
Six months after Zechariah’s experience with an angel, his wife is now six months into her pregnancy. It is at this time the same angel is sent to a young woman named Mary.
Though there is much I can and will say about the mother of Yeshua, i.e. Jesus, but what I’d like to look at is the end of the salutation, “The Lord is with you!”
Many centuries before a prophet named Isaiah said, “The Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).” Isa 7:14
What Gabriel and Isaiah say are very close to the same thing; the Lord is with you and God is with us.
In times of hopelessness and despair; in times of trials and trouble, of sorrow and grief, it’s very important for you to know that the Lord God is with you. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” Heb 13:5
God is with you!
This is a promise from the ancient of days; He will neither fail you nor abandon you. Deut 31:6
A promise that is repeated; He will neither fail you nor abandon you. Deut 31:8
And repeated; I will not fail you or abandon you. Josh 1:5
There are times that God repeats Himself. I’ve always said that if God says it once He means it. If He says it again, He really means it.
God is telling you that He is with you and will not leave you.
Jesus said, “If I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” (John 16:7) and so God is still with you as the Holy Spirit dwells in you.
He is with you. He cares for you. Jesus came and was born of the virgin for you. He lived for you! He died for you! He was resurrected for you! He said, “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:2-3
God is with you! He wants His very best for you! But to have His best you must receive His gift of salvation. It is free – just for you!
Moment by moment, every ache, pain, moments of joy, & laughter. God is with us. But, you know we forget. Praise God for the reminders!
