On last night’s news it was reported that it is an early flu season. Twenty-nine states report high levels of flu activity. Flu is widespread in 41 states according to the latest figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The report cited that the flu virus can live 2-3 hours on plastic like shopping cart handles, gas pumps, ATM buttons, phones, counter tops, doorknobs, elevator buttons, and the list goes on and on.

The prevention of the flu is simple.

• Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
• Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
• If you are sick with flu-like illness, CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities.

Spread of the flu is often through sneezes and coughs, which can spread millions of germs several feet.
The flu is almost like sin; when Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. Rom 5:12
Sin is even worse. Not everyone gets the flu but everyone has sin!

Wouldn’t it be nice if salvation could spread just as easily?
Think of the changes in humanity if Christianity went viral.
It’s not an unusual thought. On Pentecost some 3,000 were saved. Sometime later it was 5,000!
The Gospel doesn’t spread by coughs and sneezes. You can’t catch salvation by touching a grocery cart and then your nose.
It pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 1 Cor 1:21
Salvation spread through preaching and praying.
Salvation spread by those that lived honestly for Jesus.
