Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed amazing miracles and signs among the people. But one day some men from the Synagogue of Freed Slaves, as it was called, started to debate with him. They were Jews from Cyrene, Alexandria, Cilicia, and the province of Asia. None of them could stand against the wisdom and the Spirit with which Stephen spoke. Acts 6:8-10
I believe in the power of the word of God. I believe in its ability to change lives and to confound the wisdom of men.
With the word of God, Jesus said, “It is written..” (Matt 4:4, 7, 10) and overcame the temptation of Satan.
The Messiah and the Apostles confounded the wisdom of philosophers with the word of God.
By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. Heb 11:3
God spoke and His words brought all things into being!
You create with your words too!
You can create love or hate, encouragement or discouragement; you can build someone up or tear someone down.
When you speak God’s word to someone else, you speak of pure things; The words of the Lord are pure words, Ps 12:6
Now I have noticed how free the apostles and disciples were to convey God’s word in every situation they were in. How did they do that? They were no different than you and me.
Perhaps the key is in something David said; I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I may keep Your word. Ps 119:101
Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed amazing miracles and signs among the people. He had a good reputation and was filled with the Holy Spirit.
He could not be successfully debated when he spoke God’s word. In fact, the opposition had to finally lie against him to “win” the encounter.
But you will never win when you go against the word of God.
