When I first moved to East Texas and got into church. One of the things I became interested in the end times; an interest that hasn’t diminished at all.
Perhaps it because of some of the music we sang in church – songs of resurrection and rapture.
I became engrossed in those scriptures that clearly witness of a great, future event.
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 1 Thess 4:16-17
I thought about that day all the time.
One evening I arrived at home to find the house locked and my mom’s car there, but no mom. Her purse and car keys were in the house.
I made a few phone calls and got no answers.
So I got back in my car and drove down the road. I saw no one, the houses were dark, and the road was empty. I met no one.
I drove back home and tried the phone again with only one thought going through my mind – the rapture came and I missed it.
I started calling church people and got no answers again.
Then I tried one last number of someone I believed would not be around if the rapture had occurred.
I dialed the number. It rang and rang and rang. My heart sank. Then the phone clicked and I heard, “hello” on the other end.
What a horrible feeling to believe you missed the rapture. What a horrible reality for many.
If you believe, as I do, that we are living in the last of the last days, then it is more imperative that the Gospel message be given to as many as possible.
The day is coming – the day of the Lord is an awesome, terrible thing. Who can possibly survive? Joel 2:11
Only those that know Jesus as Savior can survive!
