Jesus never ran anywhere so if you are running everywhere you are not modeling Jesus.
I read that in my radio show prep for today. It stopped me in my tracks and made me think.
I am one of those people that rush around trying to get it all done. I have always done things quickly but I try to be efficient.
One way to get things done is to be on time! I despise it when I am late and I don’t like being held up by others.
Many years ago a minister told me, “If you’re not 15 minutes early – you’re late!” That was actually concerning preaching at a church but it’s something I have taken to heart in many other ways.
Everything today is done so quickly. You can record all of your favorite TV programs so you can zip past the commercials and watch just that portion that interest you. I do this with the American Bible Challenge and can watch a 1-hour program in about 35 minutes.
Fast food let’s you spend less time waiting to eat and more time to eat and perhaps do some shopping during your lunch hour.
Computers, smart phones, debit cards, and 75 mph speed limits are all designed to save time.
But there are some things you cannot rush through.
You cannot rush rising bread or a baking cake. Blooming flowers or a sunrise can’t be rushed. You can’t rush a traffic light or a nap.
More importantly you cannot rush through loving your family and friends, raising your children, or worshipping God.
Concerning the latter, it is time to slow down and take time to show someone you love that you do love them.
It’s time take time with the children – to play with them, help them with homework, pray with them, and love on them.
It is time to take time to worship God – to listen to the songs and message and praise God in it.
The only thing you cannot slow down is your testimony and witness about the Lord Jesus Christ.
Time is not on your side with this.
Jesus has said, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Rev 22:20
This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. Rom 13:11-12
It is very important that every Christian seize the opportunity to share Jesus with someone. Don’t put it off. Don’t slow down.
I’ve always been one to arrive 10-15 minutes early other wise I feel I’m late. Shortage of time is a real factor now, but my motive has always been that I know whats on the other side of death…life eternal. Everyone that crosses my path has entered a divine appointment with the Word of God. Who knows, I may be the very one used to touch their hearts for Christ’s sake. And it’s not always a scripture quote, rather a fitting word that only God knows should been given. Witnessing to the reality of God love in my life is easy.
