Restore To Me…

Restore-me-to-the-joySummer is quickly fading away. With it are the fresh memories of vacation, revival, fun times, and church camp.

I had stated that this year’s church camp was the best ever. But this year’s church camp was over a month and a half ago.
Sometimes that overwhelming feeling of decision and victory doesn’t seem as overwhelming or victorious. It’s almost like a distant dream.

I am reminded every time I put on the camp shirt to “RENEW” as it is written in God’s word.
Rom 12:2 – do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I look back at the photographs and I see our church group so joyful and full of God’s Spirit; so ready to renew each day for the glory of God.

Now things slowly begin to fade for some.

For the younger – school has started and the influence of friends not renewed or not saved has a daily influence on them. Friends pull them more away from God than push them toward Him. School can be a hostile environment for a Christian that is alone without that daily support of other Christians.
Some are off to college or working for the very first time since graduating. College and work can also be places of constant temptation and ridicule for the young Christian.

For the older – since camp we have been back at work and influence by those around us. Long hours, co-workers with attitudes, bosses with a dictator complex, and customers that are irate and rude can be very demoralizing to a Christian.

And for Jesus – nothing has changed. He was the same before church camp and the same after it.
He still desires to renew each and every one of us.

Remember back to that time the Lord touched you, filled you, and answered your prayer. Remember back and desire and ask it of Him again!

Perhaps it was this same thought that caused David to say, “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation.” Ps 51:12
AMEN!
