Gen 16:1-2 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. And she had an Egyptian maidservant whose name was Hagar. So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the Lord has restrained me from bearing children. Please, go in to my maid; perhaps I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram heeded the voice of Sarai.
It’s easy to take God’s promises into your own hands and try to manipulate it.
Manipulation is not faith.
Faith in God’s promises sometimes takes patience. Patience needs time to be fulfilled.
Patience is something not many have.
Even great men and women of God often lack the time and patience to wait on God. Abram (Abraham) had problems waiting on God.
Here is the good news – even though Abram and Sarai took matters into their own hands, God still fulfilled His promise to them.
God is a giver of love and grace. But don’t use that as an excuse to manipulate – use it as a reason to patiently wait on the Lord.
Abba Father, Your ways are perfect. Your plans are perfect. My ways are not and my patience is lacking. I believe in Your promises and pray You help me wait on You. In Jesus’ name, YES&AMEN
Amen
