But He kept silent and answered nothing. Mark 14:61
There is something about the power of saying nothing. Non-words often speak louder than verbal.
It has become easier for me to say nothing. Not everything said to me deserves a response; and sometimes saying nothing is the best thing you can say.
I know those that hear nothing I say because they are too busy formulating their next few words in response to something that I haven’t said yet!
There are other scriptures that support saying nothing.
James 1:19 – let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak,
Isa 53:7 – Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.
Job 13:5 – Oh, that you would be silent, and it would be your wisdom!
Amos 5:13 – Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it is an evil time.
Eccl 3:7 – A time to keep silence,
For those that just have to get the last word in, this will be a challenge. But it’s not a huge challenge – just don’t open your mouth.
