And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.” 1 Kings 17:1
Then it happened, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, “Is that you, O troubler of Israel?” 1 Kings 18:17
The problem with Israel was not Elijah, it was sin. Continue reading

Food For Thought
Consider this, which I have been pondering for some time.
Daniel 9:27 says, Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
Now this chapter of Daniel is a prophecy about 70 weeks of years. Continue reading
The High Point Of Our Vacation (Literally)
Rising up from the ground just north of
Fredericksburg is a huge, pink granite exfoliation dome.
It covers 640 acres and rises up 425 feet above ground, 1825 feet above sea level.
It was a challenge for Linda and me. Continue reading
VACATION!
Today is Friday!
It’s my last day to work and you will not hear from me again.
Well, at least for a week because I am going on vacation.
My destination? Continue reading
Family
Last Saturday I had a family reunion on my mother’s side.
It was the Hook reunion which has been held the weekend of Memorial Day for as far back as I can remember.
All of the Hook’s are gone now. Continue reading
A Red Sket-lon

My grandson, Braeden told us about going to eat boiled crawfish over the weekend.
“I tore those crawfish up,” he said. Continue reading
You Better Clarify That!
Ashley was supposed to give Linda some graduation invitations to pass out at church.
Both of them forgot about it.
Linda remembered while we were an hour away from home and called Ashley and just told her to put them in the mailbox.
Ashley did just that. Continue reading
Did I Pick A Winner?
For the first time ever, Linda and I have watched the complete seasons of Dancing with the Stars and American Idol.
We were amazed at the talent we heard and saw and, like most, we had our favorites and we picked who we thought would win.
This has been the week of underdog upsets. Continue reading
One Way And Only One Way
I am intolerant of false doctrine and hard-headed when it comes to the Biblical understanding of salvation.
It is written, For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus. 1 Tim 2:5
Jesus said to him, “I am the way , the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 Continue reading
Christian Confrontation
Yesterday evening I happened upon one of the religious channels and noticed Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron talking to people on the street.
Ray was trying to talk to a very confrontational man.
The guy believed he was good, a thought shared by many these days.
Though he admitted that he had lied, stolen, taken God’s name in vain, and had impure thoughts, he maintained his goodness. Continue reading
