Where Have I Been?

Morning thoughts from Pastor Tim

Good Morning!

This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

I found it!
I was just reading my Bible last night and found
For the LORD God of Israel says that He hates divorce. Mal 2:16
That’s as plain as it gets.
I know that divorce is sometimes a necessary evil and Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. Matt 19:8
It is the hardness of the heart that makes 2 people divorce.
I would not ask any woman (or man) to stay in a situation that is physically or emotionally abusive.
I would not ask anyone to stay in a marriage where they felt their life was in danger.
It is the hardness of the other spouse’s heart that leads to divorce.
My parents divorced when I was 12 years old and it affected me in good and bad ways.
At the time it was a hard emotional time to go through when everything and everyone you’ve every known and loved was fighting against each other and using me as a trump card against each other.
It has been good for me because I was determined in my heart to marry someone and make it work so that my children would not have to go through the pain and misery that I did.
If it is hardness of the heart that makes 2 people divorce, then it is a hardness of the heart that makes them marry for the wrong reason anyway.
Remember what the Bible says about love; Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. It is never glad about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. 1 Cor 13:4-7
It is the selfish and hardened heart that will not allow themselves to love or be loved. With that attitiude divorce is inevitable.
