Morning thoughts from Pastor Tim |
|---|
| Good Morning! This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. |
|---|

I’ve got the day off today!
What shall I do?
Go Christmas shopping?
Head out to the ol’ caching trail?
Sit around and watch old movies?
D – None Of The Above!
Actually I am taking “the girls”, as I call them, Lola and Zoe, the two border collies to the vet to have them fixed.
Did you know that when dogs are mentioned in the Bible it’s often not a good term?
Today we call a dog “man’s best friend” and we think of a faithful, loving household pet or a outside “work” animal, of sorts.
Dogs are looked upon rather favorably by most.
This was not the case in Biblical times.
In those days dogs were looked down upon as unclean and filthy animals.
Dogs would eat garbage, dead animals and even human flesh and blood.
The dogs shall eat whoever belongs to Jeroboam and dies in the city, 1 Kings 14:11
Then someone washed the chariot at a pool in Samaria, and the dogs licked up his blood while the harlots bathed, according to the word of the LORD which He had spoken. 1 Kings 22:38
The dogs shall eat Jezebel on the plot of ground at Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. 2 Kings 9:10
Dogs have some nasty eating habits as reported in the Proverbs.
As a dog returns to his own vomit, so a fool repeats his folly. Prov 26:11
And have some sad news for you today.
Dogs will not make it to heaven.
But outside [the gates of the holy city] are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. Rev 22:15
Of course I’m tongue-in-cheek as “dogs” is used to describe the unclean and unpure.
I remember reading that millionaire, Leona Helmsley left a $12 million dollar trust fund for the dog.
She also said in her will, “I direct that when my dog, Trouble, dies, her remains shall be buried next to my remains in the Helmsley mausoleum.”
Well that’s all I have for now.
I have to load up the dogs in my Toyota Tundra for a smooth ride over to the vet for the operation.
Linda was in the hospital for more than a week after a “similar” procedure.
We’ll have Lola and Zoe home this evening.
Hmm, has human healthcare gone to the dogs?

HAVING ANIMALS ARE WONDERFUL IF WE PUT THEM IN THE RIGHT ORDER…..PEOPLE FIRST, PETS 2ND……..BUT WE SHOULD NEVER MISTREAT ANY CREATURE.
