I Swear To God I’m An Atheist!

My friend Steve and I ran into one of my old friends on Saturday evening.
He is someone I used to work with but over the years we’ve both gone our separate ways.
He admitted to us that he is an atheist.
Though he was raised Pentecostal, he has turned his back on any teaching of the Bible though he talked about what the Bible says to some extent.
It seems he rationalizes what is in the Word.
Whereas I read truth, he searches for fault.
It’s easy for him to believe Moses made the whole thing up; that’s it’s real convenient for Moses to go behind a veil or up on the mountain and return saying, “God says we need to do this or this!”
I can certainly see his point because I feel the same way and am quite skeptical of certain writings that happened in a similar manner.
Joseph Smith would go behind a veil and decrypt the golden plates thus being the only one able to tell what God was saying.
Jim Jones, David Koresh, Arnold Murray, Herbert Armstrong, and many others have some new revelation that the rest of us aren’t privy to.
It would seem to me that the Bible stands on it’s own two feet without any help from us to add or take away from it.
Though with a mixture of poisonous doctrines in the world, I can’t blame my friend for feeling the way he does.
Paul said, “But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.” 2 Cor 4:3-5
He knows what the Bible says and I have no words to add.
All I can do is pray that his eyes will be opened to the Truth of God’s word.

  1. Please don’t list Pastor Arnold Murray in the same breath as David Koresh!!
Paster Murry is one of the finest Bible teachers you will ever find.
In this day and age with conditions in the World very shaky, we need all the help we can get! Good people of every faith need to join together against evil, regardless of their Religion.
I really believe this. I have Jehovah Witness friends, Mormon friends, and I know many good people of other faiths too, and by golly if push comes to shove I want them all on my side against the evil that seems to be taking over our Country.
    Sincerely,
    Judy
