What Does The Handbook Say?

Tyler Frost, a senior at Heritage Christian School, was suspended and will not graduate because he attended another high school prom that had dancing and rock music.
He has attended Heritage Christian, a ministry of Calvary Baptist Church, since kindergarten and other than a detention in seventh grade, he has never had disciplinary problems, he said.
According to the school handbook, rock music “is part of the counterculture which seeks to implant seeds of rebellion in young people’s hearts and minds.”
The school also forbids physical contact between girls and boys in grades 7-12.
The other school, Findlay High School, requires students attending prom from other schools to get a signature from their principal.
The principal signed the form for Tyler, but told him there would be “consequences” if he attended the dance.
Tyler expected a short lecture about making the right decisions and not doing something stupid.
Instead, the principal took the issue to the School Committee, made up of church members, where they decided to suspend Frost.
I agree that the Christian school must have rules and regulations and should be outlined in the entirety of the handbook.
My question is this; Was the punishment for dancing outlined in the handbook as suspension from school and graduation?
Or did the principal and school board just make that up at the last moment?
Do any of the students know the punishment for listening to rock, country, easy listening, or golden oldies music?
Though the school forbids physical contact between girls and boys in grades 7-12, can senior have a girlfriend and hold her hands at the movies, which is not on school property or does the school also infiltrate and dictate his private life?
This leads me to something that I like about the Bible.
Though it is a “handbook”, it holds back no surprises when it comes to discipline.
The soul who sins shall die. Ezek 18:4
For the wages of sin is death, Rom 6:23
And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. Rev 20:15
There will be no surprises or committees to consult.
The Bible is also very liberal in the prescription for the forgiveness of sin.
Over and over again it is repeated as grace from God through faith in Jesus Christ.

  1. There was a woman who know the law and punishment, cought in the very act of sin. Standing befor the supreme LAW GIVER was given mercy and told to do it no more. The mercy and love showed, I am sure broke and changed her heart for ever. Is mercy ever strained? Ofcourse it is a two way street. I pray the student have mercy in his heart for the authorities over him and extend forgiveness for the sake of his own heart attitude.

  2. Very harsh consequences indeed. I do not understand people like this at all. After working hard and being a good kid, he…..gasp…attends a PROM. Obviously he is full of the devil and everything he has worked so hard for should be tossed out the window..GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! That principal & committee need to meet and listen to some good music and maybe it will loosen up their wound-too-tight attitudes! Poor kid.
