Vacaching Day 3

A mixture of wildflowers

I’ll start out by saying we did 65 caches and 2 series on Wednesday.
Highlights of the day were several old school houses. We actually made it inside one of them to sign the logbook.
We also drove a 20mile back road series that was recommended for 4×4’s.
After Tuesday nights rain storm we were a little hesitant but did make it through.
We did have to drive through Sandy creek which looks more like Sandy River.

Enchanted Rock

Enchanted Rock

The best part of the day was a trek up Enchanted Rock.
This is a granite mound that sticks 425 feet up from ground level. We walked almost 3/4 mile to get to the top and then had to do it to get back down.
We ended up in Marble Falls to spend the night.

Here are the photo’s from day 3. (CLICK ON ANY PICT FOR A LARGER VIEW)

The old outhouse way behind the school. Cement foundation and part of the toilet itself. Can you imagine using this?

This is what most of Sandy Creek looks like. Just sand but it can become a raging river during a flash flood.

I got a cache at the bottom of this old dead tree. Note the corral and windmill in the background.

So that's what folks out here do for a living.

We’ve had more deer and turkey’s run in front of us than we could ever imagine.
We are really having a great time and will spend tomorrow around Marble Falls and then to Georgetown.
Pray for our safety and recreation!
