They's Just Folks

He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead. Acts 17:31
And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, Heb 9:27
You’ve probably heard the news that both Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson both died yesterday.
Looking at the online articles this morning, I see no word on Farrah; Michael’s death dominates the headlines.

This will be bigger than when John Lennon died.
Remember John said at one time that the Beatles were more popular than Jesus.
Well, if Michael Jackson was more popular than the Beatles (and I don’t know that he is) then he, too, would be more popular than Jesus.
I know that most of the Beatles have died, Michael has died, and the little noticed Farrah has too.
And Jesus is still around!
And Jesus will judge the others! (and you and me)
Am I sad at their deaths?
I am in the sense that their lives gave me no indication of a spiritual nature in connection with Christ.
That’s not a judgment but just a fruit inspection.
I know down here they were popular people.
Before God, “they’s just folks” as we’d say in East Texas.
They won’t be treated any better or worse than you or me.
Jesus died for them the same as you and me.
He offered them salvation the same as you and me.
Perhaps they did have a relationship with Jesus as their Savior.
If so, they’ll be still be treated the same as anyone else that does.

  1. I know that Jesus does take time to make Himself clear to every person. He does give them oppertunities to receive Him. It is their chose. Still it hurts to think someone may have rejected Him. The results of their choise… We serve an Awesome and fearful God. He means what He says!
