For Such A Worm As I

IMG_0184Alas! And did my Savior bleed?
And did my Sovereign die?
Would he devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?
That’s from the hymn At The Cross by Isaac Watts, written in 1885.
Some of the newer hymnals say For a sinner such as I, but I think it more scriptural to say worm. Continue reading

Where’s George?

wheres_georgeSometime or another you may end up with a $1 bill with some red markings on it.
Chances are it’s been stamped with a “where’s George”.
This is a fun way to go to http://www.wheresgeorge.com, enter the bills serial number and find out where it has been; that is, if someone else has taken time to do the same.
Haylee ended up with a bill that had such a mark. Continue reading

moneymattressIn case you missed this one, an Israeli woman bought her elderly mother a new mattress as a surprise and threw out the old one.
What a sweet gesture on her part, in taking care of her mom. Continue reading

Whose To Blame

And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.” 1 Kings 17:1
Then it happened, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, “Is that you, O troubler of Israel?” 1 Kings 18:17
The problem with Israel was not Elijah, it was sin. Continue reading

The Law And Animal Sacrifices

MosesWhat is the purpose of the Law of Moses?
Paul answered that question in Galatians.
What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. Gal 3:19
The purpose of the Law is to show sin. Continue reading

Food For Thought

happy_birthday_cakeConsider this, which I have been pondering for some time.
Daniel 9:27 says, Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering.
Now this chapter of Daniel is a prophecy about 70 weeks of years. Continue reading

Rising up from the ground just north of

It covers 640 acres and rises up 425 feet above ground, 1825 feet above sea level.
It was a challenge for Linda and me. Continue reading

Vacaching Day 4

Marble Falls named for this granite (marble) mountain and quarry on the edge of town.

Marble Falls named for this granite (marble) mountain and quarry on the edge of town.

We left Marble Falls pretty early, opting to not eat the complimentary continental and almost gone breakfast.
A sonic toaster sandwich did us instead.
This was a pretty uneventful day and certainly couldn’t compare to day-3 and the E-rock climb and shortcut series.
Still we had fun.
One high point was a cache at Dead Man’s Hole. Continue reading

Vacaching Day 3

A mixture of wildflowers

A mixture of wildflowers

I’ll start out by saying we did 65 caches and 2 series on Wednesday.
Highlights of the day were several old school houses. We actually made it inside one of them to sign the logbook.
We also drove a 20mile back road series that was recommended for 4×4’s. Continue reading

Vacaching Day 2

Get out of the road, sheep!

Get out of the road, sheep!

Day 2 of our Vacaching was a blast, at least for us.
We got a late start (for cachers) leaving the hotel around 8am.
The morning was overcast, breezy, and cool; it other words it was PERFECT! Continue reading
