Linda and I spent the July 4th holiday on the coast of Texas in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area.
As we were driving on the way home through Woodville, we saw that the police had a church van pulled over.
It was from an Assembly of God in nearby Livingston and was loaded with kids.

We couldn’t help but chuckle a bit at what the driver would be telling the church.
He’s probably some youth pastor and the older church members won’t let him live this down.
I started thinking about some reasons he could give.
“Well, it says in the Bible that the hand of the LORD came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel. (1 Kings 18:46) I was just curious if I could go that fast!”
“Last week in Sunday school I noticed that Jonah arose and went to Nineveh , according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, a three-day journey in extent. And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day’s walk. (Jonah 3:3-4) I thought it would be Biblical to make a 30 minute journey in just 10 minutes.”
I’m sure the young man driving will not be lying about it and perhaps the officers were kind enough to let him off with a warning.
Now all he has to do is treat those 15 kids to some “hush up” ice cream at Dairy Queen!
On a final note; obey the speed limit.
