Free Health Care! That Would Be Great But…

There is nothing in the news these days but health care reform.
Is this the #1 government priority right now?
Is there nothing else that needs more attention?
I think it would be great if we all had free health care!
But I also realize that there is nothing that is free; someone has to pay for it sometime.
Not every American can afford a new home and maybe we should make sure that each American gets one.
Or did we try that already with mortgage loans through Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac?
I think it would be great if each American owned a new car!
Well, the attempt at that is being made through the Cash For Clunkers program, which has already run out of funding once and will soon end because of lack of funding again!
What we need is to get every American working and that’s something the government CAN NOT DO!
They can create a job but they cannot create work.
A working man or woman can take pride in the labor of their efforts and then purchase the goods and services they need or can afford.
Is health care too high?
When you get your hospital bill and see you paid $30 for a band-aid, then YES!
But let me go on record to say that I am totally, 100% against taking money from hard working Americans that earned their money with their on hands and taking that money to give health insurance to someone that may sit on their rear end all day with their hand out.
Do I have scripture to back this up?
Don’t you know that I do!
But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you; nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.
For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.
2 Thess 3:6-10
I know there are times when someone can be down-on-their-luck and may need help.
But that help should be to get them back on their feet!
At our local Wal-mart is a man that I admire.
He has a “withered arm” that doesn’t seem to work and he walks with a little limp.
He goes through the parking lot and gathers up the buggy’s and brings them back to the store.
He isn’t sitting at home waiting for a hand out; he’s working, not through his disabilities but through his abilities.
Each of us can do the same thing!
