A couple of Saturday’s ago, I decided to work on our spare bathroom.
For 2 years the tub and shower have been inoperable because of a rotting floor.
Sometime last year I began tearing out the walls around the tub so I could get it out; the problem is I wasn’t quite sure how to do it.
So I finally lit a fire under myself to get the tub out.
After about an hour I called Dupuis to ask his advice on how these things are installed, since I couldn’t get it to budge.
He came over to help! (my hero)
Here’s what we discovered; it wasn’t stuck, just heavy.
The thing was installed over 40 years ago and was cast iron!
Heavy is a word that doesn’t do justice to it.
We worked for another hour trying to get it to slide out away from the back wall.
Finally we had enough clearance to get it past the plumbing fixtures.
After getting it on the side, we put a furniture dolly underneath it and rolled it outside.
The thing must’ve weighed a thousand pounds…ok…closer to 300 but it feels like a thousand when you back is aching.
There’s an even weightier matter to consider.
Jesus said the following about the religious leaders of His day, “They bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.” Matt 23:4
Leadership in the church must be seasoned with accountability. What the pastor’s and church workers say do needs to also be done by them.
Concerning the scribes and Pharisee’s, Jesus also said, “Therefore whatever they tell you to observe, that observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do.” Matt 23:3
As Pastor, I pray you can see God in my life and that my words and actions are not hypocritical.
I may be a cut-up and joke around but when it comes to salvation, I’m serious.
I also hope that I don’t burden anyone with anything that I’m not willing to do myself.
I am so glad you.re back! The most wonderful things are happening. This past year when I read my Bible it’s as though I’ve picked up a new & different book. It’s deeper and more beautiful. I’ve been experencing a freedom in Christ a lack of inabition. I am even more aware of the presence of the Lord when I gather with other belivers. I’ve danced during services the last two weeks. Lifes tough times truely teach us to draw closer to our Friend Jesus. I like the parable of the three servants who were given talents. The two that did something with what they had were trusted with more. The third, well thats scary. Jesus is worth trusting. He is worth hanging on to during troubled times. His peace will permeate the storm and calm His child. That’s what keeps me holding on. How wonderful the rewards! Loce ya brother
Welcome back Pator Tim.
I saved your morning thoughts over the past months and have been reading them. They never lose their truths and lessons…but it is good to hear from you again.
God bless you
