What I realized is that it is never about “you” or “me” but it must always be about God.
He is the one that cares for “you” and “me”.
Has either of us ever said to each other, “cast your cares upon me, for I care for you”?
But God has said, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
Have “you” given your life for “me” or “me” for “you”?
No, but God loved meand gave Himself for me. Gal 2:20
Each of us become too concerned about what someone else is or isn’t doing.
At one point Peter looked at John and asked Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?”
Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.” John 21:21-22
Someone becomes burned-out at work because they believe they are doing more work while others are doing less.
Husbands and wives fuss and fight because one believes the other isn’t doing as much.
Church members get their feelings hurt because the pastor didn’t shake their hand or visit them quick enough in the hospital.
But it’s not about us, it’s about Him.
Even when it’s about filling my belly, the word of God has something to say about glorying God; Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Cor 10:31
When my stomach is full and I get ready to go back to work, the word of God is there too; And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Col 3:17 My lips shall utter praise, Ps 119:171 With one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Rom 15:6 Every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Phil 2:11 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Cor 6:20
It’s really not about “you” and “me” is it?
It’s all about God.
Receiveing knowledge and understanding it are two different things. Like knowing God is every where and actualy experiencing His presence. We have to practice His presence. At this point in my life I can say it’s easy, but it was difficult geting here. I’m a person that learns the hard way. We need to keep Him fresh in our thoughts. Truly life is about Him… our breath, heartbeat, even our ability to move and think strate. Thank God there are those amoung us who willing teach of Him. Who study Him that we may know Him better. Thank you bor. Tim.
Getting back to the basics in Christianity 101:) You are so right in that it’s all about Jesus and Him glorified. I’m not sure where the Lord is leading you in this, but I loved the way you did MTs, using common things that were happening in your life or family, and then applying God’s word to that. I believe most of us could relate to the situation, and see how God worked in it. And, therefore, MTs were an encouragement for me. Just gonna be more faithful about keeping you and your’s in prayer, as we need to be lifting up our pastors and their families. I’m sure most of us have no idea of how many directions you get pulled, being a pastor, working a full-time job, being a husband, father, grandfather, son, son-in-law, and the list goes on! I really love the way our Wednesday night services are going now, doing the prayer requests last and then joining hands to pray over all of them, after being fed on God’s word. Praying that Linda is better today and that Vera continues to do well.
May God pour out His blessings upon you today!
Ann
I always enjoyed the way you took the scripture and applied to our eveyday living, it helped me so much, I could relate to a lot of things you are saying. I know we pray for our pastor all the time, up till about 2 months ago he worked fulltime, pastored and had a large exended family, to take care of, now that he is retired, he has more time to do the things he would like to do, that he couldn’t always do when he was working, and he worked 10 hours a day. But we really do need to pray every day for our pastors, they can burn out, real quickly when they have so much to do all the time.
Praying you and your have a blessed day, Pat
