Burn-Out (part 4)

read bibleIt’s really not about “you” and “me” is it?
It’s all about God.
That’s what I loss sight of!
I took my eyes off God and started looking around.
Like Peter walking on the water, when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink. Matt 14:30
I burned out because I didn’t draw any strength from God; It is God who arms me with strength, And makes my way perfect. Ps 18:32
I got caught up in myself because I took my eyes off the Lord; My eyes are ever toward the LORD, For He shall pluck my feet out of the net. Ps 25:15
Stephen was about to die.
In death you can easily be discouraged, doubtful, and angry.
But he refused to take his eyes off of God.
In fact it is written that he gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!” Acts 7:55-56
The man that consented to his death, Saul (later Paul) eventually put his eyes on God and never took them off.
At the end of his life he said, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” 2 Tim 4:7-8
Can we love the Lord’s appearing if we haven’t kept our sights set on Him?
The writer of Hebrews mentioned the great men and women of faith.
They are an example for us to follow, not keeping our eyes set on them, but on the one they looked unto.
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Heb 12:1-2
Jesus is our supreme example to follow.
How did He endure death on the cross?
He kept His eyes on the Father!
It’s really not about “you” and “me” is it?
It’s all about God.

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

  1. PT, I think this is the problem a lot of us have at one time or another, we take our eyes off of God and put them on man, thats where we fall, we have to keep our eyes on God at all times, no matter what the circumstances are, it’s not always easy, but He didn’t say it would be, but said He would be there to help us. Man will let us down, but God is always with us, good lesson for us all.

  2. What I tried to say in my comment on day 2, but you said it much better, which is why you need to do the morning thoughts. 🙂
