I Read The Truth

In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth , the gospel of your salvation; Eph 1:13
Going back to narrow reading, I remember going to a seminar and having some of the other attendees scoff at me and call me narrow minded.
Why would perfect strangers do this?
It’s because a question was asked about the books we read.
Others mentioned this one and that one; a best seller, a self-help, mystery, and so on and so on.
I said, “The Bible.”
I was pressed for more and I replied, “The Bible and that’s it. I don’t read anything else.”
“That’s a pretty narrow reading, don’t you think?” someone asked.
“When you’ve read the truth, what else is there?”
I know, I know, you’re reading this Morning Thought and so should you put it down and stick to just reading the Bible like me?
If you want to, that’s ok!
The way I see it, Charles Stanley, David Jeremiah, and even Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins all start with the Bible when they write.
Someone has too!
Imagine how different things would turn out if everyone wrote according to what they read in Moby Dick or Tom Sawyer.
That’s not to say I don’t read other things like news articles and short devotions.
And when you think of it the Bible isn’t just one book, it’s 66!
There’s murder, military coup’s, romance, death, life; everything you’ll find in any other book except this one is the Truth!
So once you find the truth why look anyplace else?
Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. John 17:17
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Tim 2:15

  1. The bible is full of true stories od murder, romance, fear, suspence, hope, revenge. These are not made up stories. And what a chiller to find out about hell. Reading the Bible in narrow minded with the power to expand your thinking! I agree this you brother.
