Bad Choices – 4

Lot did not make a bad choice in choosing a green pastures.
Lot did not make a bad choice in trying to better provide for himself or a family.
Lot made a bad choice in separating himself from the only Godly person in the area – Abraham (Abram).
Perhaps Lot thought he was strong enough to endure but by the 14th year of the reign of Chedolaomer, Lot is living IN the city.
When the king of Sodom rebelled against Chedolaomer, he came down and took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their provisions, and went their way. They also took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed. Gen 14:11-12
Who was it that came to his rescue?
When Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan. He divided his forces against them by night, and he and his servants attacked them and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus. So he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother Lot and his goods, as well as the women and the people. Gen 14:14-16
Abram not only rescued Lot but all the others, the wicked and evil citizens of Sodom that had been captured. (Remember that 10 righteous couldn’t be found in the city-Gen 18:26-33)
Abram then made a choice to give tithe to Melchizedek king of Salem the priest of God Most High. (Gen 14:18)
Abram then made the choice to not accept any reward from the king of Sodom.
Today is a day of choice.
The words of Joshua can still be heard ringing out for all to hear – Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. Josh 24:15

  1. Our God is good! There are times when it seems the choise is difficult. We have to choose which is more important. And are we willing to give up what ever it takes to have what we real want. So the question is, do we realy want God at any cast? He did pay the highest cost for us. And failure is not in His vocabulary toward us.
