Here is what God says, “If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.” Ex 15:26
There are four things God wants us to diligently do and He then will do something totally marvelous and wonderful.
If we; First, heed the voice of the Lord your God.
Second, do what is right in His sight.
Third, give ear to His commandments.
Fourth, keep all His statutes.
Then God says that He would not put the diseases on us that He put on the Egyptians.
He proclaims that He is the Lord that heals us!
Is it possible to be totally healthy?
Perhaps a better question would be, is it possible to do the 4 requirements that God has prescribed in the verse?
I’m going out on a limb here and saying that I believe God wants us to be healed and healthy.
Now I don’t believe my belief is the same as so many faith-healing ministers that proclaim the same thing.
They simply believe that God doesn’t want you to be sick and all you have to do is claim health.
But read Exodus 15:26 again!
God did not say, “I’ll heal you and if you want to keep my commandments and do what is right, well, that will be okay too!”
He was very specific in His demands.
Now I believe that God does heal, even when all of His word is not followed.
It is written, confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. James 5:16
Even here there is something we must do; Confess our trespasses and pray.
Then we will be healed.
