Is That How You Want To Be Known?

As I was going to work yesterday morning, I ended up behind a school bus.
You know how a school bus can slow you down with it’s constant stopping to pick up students.
The bus driver turned on the yellow flashing lights and moved over to the shoulder of the road, continuing to move towards the next passengers.
Seeing the kids a pretty good distance ahead, I went a head and passed the bus.
Coming towards me was a red pickup.
The driver suddenly flashed his headlights at me and as I drove by, he made an obscene hand gesture towards me.
I can only assume that he was upset that I had passed a school bus, that was not stopped and was not picking up kids.
I can tell you exactly what kind of man that driver is!
He is not Christ-like!
He is not someone that can control his temper.
He is not someone with any self-discipline whatsoever.
He is someone that makes rash judgments and reckless reactions.
He is someone that believes he is right!
Is this how he wants to be known?
While I’m on the subject, I see a lot of posts and pictures from people I know on Facebook and I often ask the same thing; is this how you want to be known?
I’ve seen pictures of those drinking and drinking and drinking.
There are photos of some also making obscene hand gestures or worse.
I’ve seen pictures of those so drunk, they are literally passed out.
Some of the clothing that is worn, the sayings that are written, and the posts that are made all tell me what kind of person it is doing those things.
But don’t just take my word for it; it is written he who walks with integrity walks securely, but he who perverts his ways will become known. Prov 10:9
I know that I too am known for what I do, say, and the pictures I take.
I hope you can see that I’m a God loving, Bible quoting, happily married, nature photographing, sarcastically quick and witty, guitar playing, Wal-mart shopping, preaching geocaching grandpa on the radio!
What are you known as?

  1. I too hope to be remembered as one who was a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. I remember there was a guy in a bowling league I was in who, if the pins didn’t tall the way he liked, would flip them off. I told him, “the pins don’t understand sign language” He didn’t appreciate that comment, but GOD didn’t like his comment at all.
I have been guilty of not doing the things I know to do since I have become a Christian, but I pray I will not be remembered for them. I want to be remembered as someone who loved his God and his family. That sums it up

  3. As a born again, spirit filled believer and one who represents Christ I pray that I will bring glory to Him as well as the unsaved by showing HIS love daily in actions, word and deeds.

  4. My daughter used to say, “you never meet a stranger.” At first I’d wait untill I was sure the Lord was moveing me to speak to a stranger, but now…I move forward on my own knowing that the Lord will not only put the words in my mouth, but will stop me if He knows I should not speak to a person. Only once has He done that. I am always amazed at how sweetly people will receive a verse from the Lord.
