Satan Wants My What?

I heard someone say the other day, “the devil wants to steal your joy!”
I’ve heard something like that most of my Christian life but this time it burrowed down into my soul and I started thinking about it.
“Why would Satan want to steal my joy? If he stole my joy for God, then wouldn’t he be the owner of joy for God?”
That thought intrigued me. I began to think that Satan doesn’t want to steal anything from us [as Christians] because he would become the illegal owner of it.
When a thief steals from you, it’s because he wants what you have for his own purpose.
If he puts your 50-inch plasma in his living room, then he will enjoy it.
He may pawn your property so he can get money, but the property becomes his.
But Satan is not necessarily known as a thief.
The Bible says he was a murderer from the beginning. John 8:44
A murderer kills and I think this is what Satan seeks to do with your joy; not steal it but kill it.
That way NO ONE will be in possession of it.
A thief comes to steal when no one is home but a murderer does not come to kill when no one is home but when someone is there.
A thief comes to take property; a murderer comes to take life.
Satan seeks to kill anything in you that has to do with God.
He wants to kill your relationship with God.
He doesn’t want you to have it and he doesn’t want it.
Being from Texas, we know how to take care of murderers.
That may sound harsh but God knows how to take care of them too; Moreover you shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death, but he shall surely be put to death. Num 35:31
Because of his murdering, Satan has the death sentence waiting for him on judgment day.
