It's About Jesus!

It’s only my opinion, but I think that church should be more about Jesus and less about everything else.
I don’t mind an open discussion in Sunday School or on a Wednesday night Bible study.
But when it comes to preaching, that’s exactly what it should be.
I know we could all sit down and say things about the present administration, about healthcare, about the economy; you might even throw in something about Saturday mail service.
I seriously doubt that anyone would run to the front of the church, fall and the altar, and accept Jesus as Savior because of healthcare, President Obama, or any other issue.
No matter where you start in the Bible, you should get to the cross of Christ as quick as possible.
Philip did when he spoke to the Ethiopian, sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet. Acts 8:28
Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. Acts 8:35
I’m sure Paul had some stories to tell of prison, shipwrecks, or being stoned.
He could have talked about the Roman government.
He could have addressed the economic crisis, the persecution, or talked about the weather.
This is what he said, “And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”1 Cor 2:1-5
His message was not about himself but about the Christ that had forgiven and saved him.
Should our message be any different?

  1. “STAND” brother. Jesus will take care of all the rest. Every thing falls into only one of two catagories, obedience or disobedience. Question is which am I standing in.

  2. I agree……This is a message from God given to this proclaimed minister of GOD and we need to listen….It is not a time to add to or take away,
