There has been a lot of chatter about President Obama stopping the National Day of Prayer.
Let me assure you that hasn’t happened…yet!
The president will not have a Whitehouse ceremony commemorating the National Day of Prayer.
That’s not unusual, he didn’t do it last year either, though later in the year he did allow some Islamic prayer thing.
So the National Day of Prayer will continue despite the fact that a US District Judge has ruled it unconstitutional.
King Jeroboam tried to put a stop to the spreading of God’s word given by a prophet. So it came to pass when King Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, who cried out against the altar in Bethel, that he stretched out his hand from the altar, saying, “Arrest him!” Then his hand, which he stretched out toward him, withered, so that he could not pull it back to himself. The altar also was split apart, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD. Then the king answered and said to the man of God, “Please entreat the favor of the LORD your God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored to me.” 1 Kings 13:4-6
Despite the attempt to quell God’s message, the prophecy came true.
You cannot stop God; you cannot slow Him down or speed Him up.
He will accomplish His will with no regard for what you think or believe.
There is no president or judge that can keep you and me from praying for the nation.
There is no one that should be able to stop you from reading His word.
Perhaps if more persecution broke out on the Christian church in America, then we would get more serious and busy about the Father’s business.
We are asleep in the Light.
Our town is observing the National Day of Prayer. Can you imagine General George Washington being told that he and his men could not pray at Valley Forge? Or President Lincoln announcing that citizens could not pray during the greates crisis of our nation because prayer was not constitutional or might offend someone.? To think that President Truman and the US military leaders would forbid prayer for the D-Day invasion or about the awesome decision concerning the dropping of the Atom Bomb? We are in crisis and perhaps the greatest crisis is the failure of our prayers as a nation-our lack of and fervency in.
