God Hits A Homerun For You

A young lady I know recently purchased a Miken Freak.
If that name wasn’t enough to catch my attention, she said she bought it for $340.
I had to Google that name and when I did, I came up with a baseball/softball bat.
I’ll admit that I don’t know the worth of such things as bats, gloves, or umpire vests, but I thought that was a bit expensive for a bat; it would be for me since I would not use it, but she will!
Realize that it’s not the quality of the bat that determines the worth of the player; it is the quality of the player that determines the worth of the bat
That same $340 bat in my hand will probably result in striking out, a twisted back, and utter humiliation; in her hands it will be a home run, a victory lap, and the praise of her teammates.
That got me to thinking about my own worth.
You and I are not worthy of God’s love; we are all like an unclean thing and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags. Isa 64:6
What is our worth before God?
Since we are sinful and the wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23), then we are not worth much. We are worthy of death.
That will not change in the hands of Buddha, Mohammed, a Wiccan, or New Age thought.
We are the same sinners in the hands of another sinner; nothing has changed.
However, our worth dramatically increases in the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Titus 2:14
God has made us a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2:9-10
I may not be worthy of God’s forgiveness, grace, and love, but through Jesus, I am!
