Chained By The Past

Do you hold onto the past?
If you do, you will find it very difficult to move forward because the past will keep dragging you down.
I received a Facebook message the other evening from someone I don’t know.
Without going into details, the incident that this person refers to happened 10 years ago.
However, some terrible things were said about Linda and me; I heard them and I have moved on.
I did not reciprocate.
The past is the past, it cannot be changed. You can only change today and affect the future.
When you hold on to the past, you let it control your future.
You are not free to go on with life because of the past.
You see someone from that past and it causes you to dwell on what happened; you are not free, you are in bondage.
You are also setting yourself over God, who both forgives and forgets the past.
It is written, none of their past sins will be brought up again, for they have done what is just and right, and they will surely live. Ezek 33:16 NLT
You may think, “but they haven’t done what is just and right!”
Is that your call?
It is written again, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. And again, “The LORD will judge His people.” Heb 10:30
The Lord will judge me and everyone else; we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 Cor 5:10
If I have done wrong I will take the full responsibility for my actions.
Please don’t concern yourself with me or my past. Think about your future!
If Jesus is your Lord today, then He is also Lord of the future and Lord of the past.
