Once again we have arrived at the time of year that I expect Jesus to return – Yom Teruah, the Feast of Trumpets.
This year it takes place on September 9th.
Will Jesus return?
Yes, He will!
Will it be on September 9, 2010?
That I can’t answer!
But I do believe it will be on Yom Teruah and fulfill this Feast of Israel.
Our church studied this extensively last year.
The real question is not will Jesus come on the 9th, but how will you serve Him in the year that follows if He doesn’t.
What did you do over the past year?
Did you live more for Him?
Did you study more, pray more, share Him more?
Or was it Christian-life business as usual?
Remember that as the disciples watched He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven. Acts 1:9-11
What did the disciples do after Jesus ascended to the Father?
They obeyed His will and waited in Jerusalem until they were all filled with the Holy Spirit on the Feast of Weeks.
Then they began to be about the Father’s business of winning souls, preaching, teaching, baptizing, healings, and miracles.
Shouldn’t we be doing the same thing?
We should live our lives as though Jesus was returning this afternoon!
Many Christians long for the Rapture, not because of their intense love for the Lord, but because it symbolizes an escape from the distress of our age. ~ERWIN W. LUTZER
Thanks for this post Tim.
Time to clean house. Gotta let go of a bunch of material things that the enemy uses to bog us down with, so we are no longer effective in His service.. More affirmation to the church at large.
-it’s gotta begin right here, right now.
