Which Side Will You Lie?

Linda and I visit many cemeteries in our geocaching travels.
Often there is a historic marker that will gives the reason the cemetery was started, who was the first buried there, who owned the land, and so on.
There is one question that remains unanswered, even from the Bible.
Sarah lived one hundred and twenty-seven years; these were the years of the life of Sarah. So Sarah died in Kirjath Arba (that is, Hebron) in the land of Canaan, and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah and to weep for her. Gen 23:1-2
But since Abraham was a stranger in the land he had no place to bury his dead. So he purchased a cave from the sons of Heth.
This is the sum of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived: one hundred and seventy-five years. Then Abraham breathed his last and died in a good old age, an old man and full of years, and was gathered to his people. And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, which is before Mamre, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, the field which Abraham purchased from the sons of Heth. There Abraham was buried, and Sarah his wife. Gen 25:7-10
So where was Abraham laid in relation to Sarah?
There is no set standard on how couples are buried.
I noticed yesterday in a cemetery one grave had the husband on the left and the wife on the right.
The grave next to them was just the opposite.
Linda thinks maybe it’s determined by which side of the bed slept on in life.
I’m not sure but I’d be glad to hear your thought.
This I do know, the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth — those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. John 5:28-29
It doesn’t matter which side of the grave your laying or which side of the bed you slept on; it doesn’t matter where you went to church or didn’t go.
You will hear and you will arise.
The question is then – Where will you spend eternity?
That depends on which side of the cross of Christ you are on!

  1. It depends on her status in the marriage/if she was the one in control she is on his right side and if he was the head of the house she is on his left…..(who really knows)
