Every day I hear a commercial on the radio.
What catches my attention is the phrase, “Listeners whose name begins with A through N may call now. Listeners whose name begins with O through Z may call tomorrow morning beginning at 9am.”
The only problem is tomorrow’s message is the same thing so it seems that O-Z never gets to call.
I may think I get to but as soon as I hear the message I realize that I get to call tomorrow but then I guess I’m mistaken because when the next day gets hear it tells me I can call tomorrow but when that day comes I am mistaken again because the message tells me to call tomorrow but when…
Tomorrow never comes!
This is why the Bible impresses upon us to turn to God today!
Exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” Heb 3:13-15
Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Cor 6:2
You may be thinking, “I have plenty of time. I wait until tomorrow!”
Don’t brag about tomorrow, since you don’t know what the day will bring. Prov 27:1
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. James 4:13-16
Sure, I still plan to do something tomorrow but I’ve already taken care of the salvation of today so it doesn’t really matter to me about tomorrow!
Truely this is the day the Lord has made. It is a gift from our Father God. His gifts are only good and profitable. There evil is present. God’s children redeem the time through praise & thanksgiving. If we will remember to do everything as though unto Christ, going to work & dealing with the boss, returning home and sharing with family, as though Jesus where right there phyisicaly, there’d be no room for evil!
