Tricky Opposition

So Moses and Aaron went to see Pharaoh, and they performed the miracle just as the LORD had told them. Aaron threw down his staff before Pharaoh and his court, and it became a snake. Then Pharaoh called in his wise men and magicians, and they did the same thing with their secret arts. Their staffs became snakes, too! But then Aaron’s snake swallowed up their snakes. Pharaoh’s heart, however, remained hard and stubborn. He still refused to listen, just as the LORD had predicted. Ex 7:10-13 NLT
Moses and Aaron did exactly what God commanded them to do but the opposition was waiting.
Anytime you do God’s will there will be someone to come against you.
This opposition to the Gospel, morality, and virtue is more intense than ever before.
The purpose of opposing the Gospel is to turn away those that might be persuaded to accept God’s offer of forgiveness and eternal life in Christ.
Opposition comes in the form of tricky wording and slight of hand on issues.
It may look good but so does a counterfeit bill until you try to spend it.
Paul brings a reminder to us as he wrote a young pastor; and these teachers fight the truth just as Jannes and Jambres fought against Moses. Their minds are depraved, and their faith is counterfeit. But they won’t get away with this for long. Someday everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as happened with Jannes and Jambres. 2 Tim 3: 8, 9 NLT
A quick review of the story of Moses and Pharaoh will find the king giving in and letting God’s people go.
He also ended up with a ruined country and a destroyed army.
Jannes and Jambres were probably branded as fakes; after all they did nothing to stop the onslaught of plagues that God unleashed.
All those two could do was perform a trick plague and explain it away.
You’d think Pharaoh would have realized something was going on when they didn’t nothing to cure or prevent it.
As Paul says, they were branded as fools and so are all that do not recognize the sovereignty of God; The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” Ps 53:1

  1. Just as I heard this morning on the way to work-the people saw what Jesus did with the basket of food that fed 5000 and they still doubted–they saw Him heal the blind and make the lame walk and yet we continue to turn our backs on Him—is it lack of Faith or is it being stubborn and wanted to walk in our own ways..

  2. Unfortunately, there will always be people with itching ears and preachers who are willing to scratch them. We must always be alert, checking what we’re hearing against what God’s word says. And, warning others of false teachings when we hear them.
