Little Children

I was recently told a story about a mom and her children.
They have very little in worldly goods and live in a small mobile home.
The children don’t have the luxuries that many other of today’s kids do; they don’t have a Wii, a television in their room, or cell phones.
They didn’t even have decent clothing to start school.
By all means you would consider them having nothing but they don’t know that.
When they go outside to play they change so they won’t ruin their school clothes.
Since they don’t have a lot of toys, they use their imagination.
They can have fun playing a game of chase or hide-n-seek.
Simply lying on the ground and rolling down a grassy hill gives them pleasure.
That’s the way it was when I was growing up.
We played outside in the sun shine and fresh air, not in front of a TV for hours on end.
We used our imaginations and became cowboys, pirates, or the US Marines!
We weren’t gangsta’s, the Mafia, or a car thief in a video game.
As more “things” are given to our children, their childhood is taken away from them.
It has evolved into some warped adult-themed world.
The innocence of children has been taken away and they are thrown into a cold, harsh world.
I think this affects their decision on salvation.
Jesus said, “Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” Mark 10:15
But little children aren’t like little children any more.
I remember when children went to church even if the parents did not!
Now the whole family doesn’t attend.
Christianity is losing the battle because of disobedience to the Bible; Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Mark 10:14
Pray for children!
Talk to children!
Lead the children to Jesus!

  1. That lady sounds like us when we were kids, we were poor but had no idea that we were. Most Christmas’ we got a set of new clothes that my Mother made, 1 toy each and a stocking full of apples, oranges, toothbrushes and maybe a home-made candy cane. We had NO idea that we lacked anything. It’s too bad that my folks were not born again during that period of our lives, I know my Mom accepted Jesus into her heart two weeks before she died. My Dad would only say that he had made his peace with God. His generation was not public with their faith at all.

  2. Sounds like my mom told you the story of our lifes. I remember my oldest bro. repairing his shoe with a coat hanger & duck tape. I remember playing football on the slops of the grave yard. Mom had to many flowers here & there for all that running & tumbling. Christmas’s were skimpy. One year mom rolled up a dollar bill for each of us kids & hid them in the tree. It was a big deal…we had a whole dollar!! What can a dollar buy now? Funny isn’t it, back then I didn’t know what poor was. I intertained my self…climbed trees, chased neighboring horses, walked a mile to see my friend, swam in the creek (we lived in the country). I watch children so I can learn how to come to God. With trust, faith, WITHOUT fear. To many children have been robbed of these.
