My daughter celebrated her 28th birthday last Friday.
I got up that morning, skimmed through the photo albums and found a few of Lindsey when she was a little girl.
I scanned them and posted them on Facebook.
They took me back in time to when my children were little and totally dependent on me.
I was the center of their lives; their protector and provider.
I gave them love.
I gave them fun.
I played with them, taught them, punished them, and rewarded them.
I cheered them when they did well and I encouraged them when they didn’t do as good.
I supported them when they wanted to play basketball or be cheerleaders.
But that has all changed.
Sure I get asked questions every so often when they want my advice but I am no longer the Pater Familias.
My role for Lindsey and Kimberly sounds a lot like God’s role for me.
He should be the center of my life, my protector, my provider.
I should never and can never outgrow my heavenly Father.
He should be my Pater Familias!
I need to remind myself daily of this, Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1
Father God is amazing!
