Are You Sick?

There are so many people that are sick today; hacking, coughing, sneezing, running fever, and blowing the nose.
I remembered that a few years ago I did a Morning Thought about the sicknesses and contagious illnesses in the church.
#1 Psoriasis of the giver. The majority of people have not learned the lesson of tithing and releasing back to God His blessing on them. While we are commanded in the Word to give, we don’t discern this and we keep ourselves [financially] sick. This disease keeps the whole [church] body sick and unable to do what God has called it to do.
#2 Pew-monia. There is coldness in the congregation, a lack of activity towards worshipping and praising God. If a person would close the eyes and just try to raise the hands, a new excitement for God would take over the body and free them from this disease of apathy.
#3 Truth decay. There is a lack of filling our minds with the truth, the absolute truth, which is God’s word. We have filled our minds and spirits with every imagination of man, all fiction and falsehoods, and lies. And we have believed them as truth.
#4 I-disease. When a person places self above all other needs including God and the body of Christ.
#5 Help-atitis. When we become too disabled to help our fellow man.
#6 Can’t-cer. We tell God we can’t do it. This is a killer disease.
One way to begin to rid the church of this sickness is following the prescription God has given, is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. James 5:14
Everyone, myself included, is sick, to some degree, and in need of prayer.
Take a dose of God’s word, be anointed and prayed for and let’s all get well.
